Mark Duffill is the first person to successfully breed B. kubotai in captivity; beating even tropical fish farms and hormone induced breeding techniques to the punch!

Mark bought some large (6") botia kubotai a few months ago from pier aquatics and has recently found a very young B. Kubotai.

Congratz Mark.

But whether this is the first world spawning may not be the case but certainly the first to successfully breed. Last time i saw Sue she said her group of kubs bred but never raised any young. Do i remember that correctly Sue?

Wow, that's amazing!!

I know what you are thinking David.. "Now all I need to do is get me a pair of B. kubotai and get them to breed too!"

Kept tropical fish since 98. Mainly livebearers, and then moved onto Corydoras catfish, barbs, tetras, rainbowfish, dwarf cichlids and many others in planted tanks. Now trying rainbowfish.
I have recently had a group of Corydoras trilineatus spawn.
